All Coach Packages in Madden 17

There are a total of 53 coach packages assigned to the 32 real life NFL coaches (well, 31 and Griffin Murphy, Bill Bellichick's synth counterpart). That's not a lot, especially compared to Madden 16 when Pete Carroll had TEN development packages alone. Last year, with Pete as your coach, you got extra XP for training quarterbacks, running backs, left ends, right ends, left outside linebackers, middle linebackers, right outside linebackers, free safeties, strong safeties, and corner backs. This year, it's just linebackers.

In Madden 17, Coach Packages are divided into three different categories:

  • Player Acquisition (scouting, trading, free agency)
  • Player Retention (re-signing, retirement)
  • Player Progression (weekly XP, training bonus)

EA was very frugal with coach packages this year. No coach has more than three, and there are 24 different packages that no coach possesses.

Here is a breakdown of each coach's packages at the start of a CFM.

Player Acquisition

No coaches have the all-important scouting package, and not surprisingly, nobody has the Master Trade Negotiator trait (since A) trades don't really exist in the NFL and B) that's what general managers are for). There's actually not a lot going on in this category, and some of the assignments seem pretty random.

Player Retention

Player Retention is very weak with only six re-sign packages and just ONE retirement package. Nobody has re-sign packages for Tight End, Offensive Line, Defensive Back, Kicker or Punter. The only retirement package in the game belongs to Rams coach Jeff Fisher, universally known for his ability to prevent defensive backs from hanging up their cleats.

So what do you think? Are these coach packages accurate? Which coaches got robbed? Why has Jack Del Rio risen from the dead?
